Granddad’s Dilemma

I saw the frustration on his face. Granddad couldn’t hear what my mumbling brother was saying. After asking Johnny to repeat what he said a couple of times, Granddad soon let his gaze drift toward the NBA game that was on the TV screen. I then tried to engage him in conversation, asking about his recent golf game and work at the agricultural museum, but it was an exercise in futility – he seemed to catch only every other word. Granddad was young, only sixty-five. Three months after our attempted conversation I found out from my mom that he was going to get hearing aids Stockport. The next time I saw him, Granddad was cheerfully chatting with one of his neighbors. The look of confusion on his face was gone but I noticed he was wearing a baseball cap pulled low over his ears.
